Tell us about yourself
Hello - I’m John and I’m a husband, Dad and a professional photographer born, raised and still living in the glorious town of Tunbridge Wells.
There is something in my brain that connects photography to happiness.
I am lucky that my childhood was beautifully photographed by my Dad who was camera crazy. Those photos have many memories and associations that I am certain would not be remembered otherwise.
I am also lucky in that my Dad taught me how to take a ‘proper’ photograph from an early age which gave us something to enjoy together – apart from the day I accidentally dropped my camera on the cobblestones at York – but that’s another story!
Those photographs still bring a smile to my face after all these years and what more can you ask from a photograph, and what more can I aim to put into my own photographs for the enjoyment of all my clients.
I absolutely love what I do and the experience of sharing your wedding journey with you.
From the moment you get in touch to the moment I deliver your beautiful wedding images I will be there for you.
Creating photographs that reflect the natural beauty of your day - telling your unique story as a couple, discreetly blending in to capture moments without you even knowing, and delivering a story of images that will keep the magic alive forever.
How long have you been a wedding photographer?
I’ve been photographing weddings unobtrusively since 2007.
My photographs are relaxed and natural, capturing the spirit of this beautiful occasion whilst telling your story one beautifully relaxed image at a time.
Weddings are amazing and no two are ever the same.
My style enables me to capture the reactions of you and your guests (whilst being unaware of being photographed) documenting your day to create a unique record of your celebrations so that you can enjoy the memories forever.
What got you into photography?
I have been taking photos my whole life since my Dad gave me my first camera as a young boy. When my wife and I got married I found the process of choosing a photographer quite overwhelming and confusing.
I think that was the moment that I decided I could make the whole process of choosing and booking your wedding a photographer a pleasure with simple upfront information, beautiful images for you and your whole family to share and no hidden surprises and just being there to support and advise you when needed as you start your wedding journey.
How far will you travel?
I’m happy to go pretty much anywhere - I have been very lucky and photographed weddings in some amazing places internationally from Sweden to the Amalfi Coast.
Although it’s lovely working at some of the beautiful local venues on our doorstep I always love it when I get to travel to venues all over the UK, St Paul’s Cathedral was real highlight this year as it’s one of my favourite buildings.
But wherever you choose to get married it is always the couples and their families that make weddings memorable.
I have been privileged to witness moments of pure joy and love that no one else will witness - apart from through my photographs - and that makes me feel very lucky.
What packages do you have to offer?
I wish everything about your wedding day to be a joy - which is why I keep all my packages simple and to suit all budgets and requirements.
Everything you need is included from a pre-wedding meeting (where we can get to know each other, your venue and where I can help and guide you), photography coverage on the day, a beautiful USB keepsake box with your high resolution images (which can be printed and shared with friends and family) and a password protected online gallery.
Top tips for weddings
Generally my top tip for a wedding day is keep it simple.
The less you have to worry about the more you will enjoy yourselves, and as long as you have plenty of food and drink everyone will be happy and you will have a beautiful day.
From a photography point of view apart from loving someones photos and style my simplest advice is - you will spend a lot of time on your wedding day with your photographer (and so will your guests) so it is important you feel relaxed and can enjoy each others company.
Meet for a coffee, ask to see examples of real weddings from beginning to end (not just the highlights) and never be worried about asking questions.
